Grenache Noir is one of my favorite grapes. It is the Farmer’s Grape, the Winemakers Grape, the Drinker’s Grape. It grows so well, and tastes so good, there is no wonder why the rest of the world drinks so much of it.
It is less intimidating than Syrah, the bigger brother of pinot. The Dead Center of what everyone loves about wine.
It reminds me of my son, my nephew… there are a lot easier to approach than my brother and I.
It is everything you want without anything you don’t.

I don’t know what is like not to have a brother.

My entire life, there he was. Someone to always have my back, someone to challenge me, someone to have such an unspoken bond with we have never talked about it.

Our home growing up was pretty feral.

My poor mother wouldn’t let us eat dinner unless we had clothes on. We were usually bleeding, usually from each other.

Fights were common and vicious.

My aunt recently said to me “we thought you were going to kill each other, and you mom would just shrug, and say “go outside” she was just numb to it.

Cash + Brady don’t have brothers.

They have sisters.

I think them having sisters did them well.

They are much more calm.

They are empathetic.

They have manners.

However: every time they see each other, they immediately go back to back to see who’s taller. When they were younger, they would wrestle just to see who is stronger.

They are both tough as shit, but they keep it in reserve.

But, every time they see each other they hug. They love each other like brothers.

Our family sees them as such.

My brother is raising one and I get the other.

But I love Brady as my own.

Kirk loves Cash as his own.

They have each other.

And always will.

It’s a special bond.

All the love.

Without the violence.

These boys don’t know it yet, but it’s always nice to have someone with your last name have your back.

Someone that won’t ask questions you don’t want to have asked,

Someone to talk to for as long as it’s is needed,

and when life puts you into the corner,

will come over the boards and show up in a very foul mood,

just for you.

They are the lucky ones.
